The management team of Turkish Airlines on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Headquarters in Abuja.

The visit underscored Turkish Airlines’ commitment to deepening its relationship with Nigeria’s aviation regulator and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations in the aviation sector.

Welcoming the delegation, Capt. Najomo commended Turkish Airlines for its long-standing contribution to Nigeria’s aviation industry, particularly in expanding connectivity between Nigeria and over 300 destinations globally through Istanbul. He described the airline as a “reliable partner” that has continued to uphold high operational and safety standards in line with NCAA’s regulatory framework.

“Our collaboration with Turkish Airlines has been built on trust, compliance, and shared commitment to global aviation best practices,” Najomo stated. “This visit reinforces our mutual resolve to further strengthen regulatory cooperation and enhance service quality for Nigerian passengers.”

The Turkish Airlines delegation expressed appreciation for NCAA’s regulatory guidance and support over the years. They reiterated the airline’s readiness to continue working closely with the NCAA to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and local engagement within Nigeria’s aviation market.

The courtesy visit also served as a reflection on Turkish Airlines’ enduring presence in Nigeria since the early 2000s, a period during which the carrier has become a vital player in linking Nigerian travelers to key business and tourism destinations across the world.

Industry analysts note that the meeting comes at a strategic time when NCAA, under the leadership of Capt. Najomo, is reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a strong aviation hub in Africa through reforms, safety compliance enforcement, and international partnerships.

The renewed engagement between NCAA and Turkish Airlines is expected to further promote Nigeria–Türkiye aviation ties and contribute to the growth of the country’s air transport industry.
