Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) on Friday held a symbolic send-off ceremony in Abuja to honour its outgoing Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Philip Mshelbila, marking the end of a transformational era in the company’s leadership.

The ceremony, attended by top management and stakeholders, celebrated Mshelbila’s stewardship of the company during a period characterised by global energy market disruptions, operational challenges, and heightened sustainability expectations. Speakers at the event highlighted his role in strengthening NLNG’s resilience, reinforcing its innovation culture, and positioning the company for long-term growth.

Speaking on behalf of management, NLNG’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Olakunle Osobu, described Mshelbila as a distinguished professional whose leadership combined strategic clarity with operational discipline. He said the outgoing CEO successfully navigated the company through extraordinary circumstances while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and value creation.

Also paying tribute, NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Sophia Horsfall, praised Mshelbila’s selfless service, steady leadership, and values-driven approach. According to her, he led with humility and vision, inspiring excellence across the organisation and strengthening NLNG’s corporate culture.

In his remarks, Mshelbila expressed gratitude to NLNG’s shareholders, Board of Directors, employees, and partners for their support throughout his tenure. He noted that the principles of innovation, excellence, and sustainability that define NLNG would continue to guide him in his next assignment.

“The culture of innovation, excellence, and sustainability that defines NLNG will continue to guide me as I take on my new role,” he said.

Mshelbila is scheduled to exit NLNG on December 31, 2025, to assume office as Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Qatar, a move widely seen as a recognition of his contribution to the global gas industry.

Meanwhile, NLNG announced that, following Board approval, Engr. Adeleye Falade, currently Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brunei LNG, has been appointed as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NLNG. Falade is expected to formally assume office in April 2026, ensuring a smooth and orderly leadership transition at the company.
