-calls for patience
The founder of Jedidiah Divine Home of Love (JEDLOF), a non-governmental organisation, Dr (Mrs) Ebele Okoye, has appealed to well meaning Nigerians, Corporate organisations and individuals to come to the aid of widows and less privileged in the society in order to give them sense of belonging
Speaking at the JEDLOF Widows Foundation’s Last Quarter Outreach program in Abia community in Udi, Enugu state, where she distributed food, essential items and other materials, Dr Okoye admonished the gathering mostly widows and vulnerable members of the community to be patient in all they do.
With the theme, ‘reviving hope and empowering widows’ for this year’s outreach, Dr Okoye stressed that she got the calling from God to go back to the village and take care of the widows four years ago and she has been doing it since then
She said JEDLOF budgeted for between 200 and 250 widows for the outreach but ended up having up to 400 of them and thanked God for being able to care of them by being part of the seasonal celebration
Dr Okoye acknowledged the downturn in the economy of the nation this outgoing year, saying it was a bit difficult for Nigerians especially the less privileged ones but thank God that she was able to make it.
Dr Okoye reminded the widows of the need to always be patient in life as only God knows knew what was good for them at the right time.
“They have to be patient with God, with their children and people around them. They should not give themselves self condemnation and not to envy anyone”
JEDLOF boss disclosed that next year will make it 25 years as a widow and she has continued to remain firm in God, urging the widows present that nothing was impossible with God.
Dr Okoye decried the high level of suffering in the land and called on the government to subsidize food items for widows and the less privileged
She urged government to build more schools in, reduce school fees and provide health facilities for them.
According to her, security, safety and health of the people especially widows and less privileged should be guaranteed
While describing 2025 as a year full of activities, Dr Okoye said it was a divine assignment which the foundation was able to achieve in the face of the heating economy
She was optimistic that 2026 was coming with a lot of varieties with activities ranging from, supporting widows with cash to boost their small businesses, paying their children’s school fees, enrollment of their wards in final examinations.
Other activity included, free health screening.
Okoye appealed to the government to reach out to the foundations that identified with widows in order to help ameliorate their problems.
