In a decisive move to strengthen coordination, operational efficiency, and institutional capacity, the Federal Government has approved a major redeployment of senior directors across key aviation agencies. The directive, issued by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and signed by Permanent Secretary Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, takes immediate effect and impacts leadership roles within the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
Among the notable leadership movements, Funke Adebayo Arowojobe transitions from her role as Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NiMet to assume the same position at NSIB, while Dr. Nasiru Sani has been reassigned within NiMet to head Corporate Services, signaling a strategic internal reshuffle.
In parallel adjustments, Airohiuodion Henry Omonzogie moves from NiMet to oversee Corporate Services at NSIB, while Baro Henry Minabawarre is cross-posted from NSIB to NiMet as Director of Human Resource and Administration. These moves are designed to enhance institutional knowledge sharing and strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
The redeployment also affects public communication leadership, with Bimbo Olawunmi Oladeji moving from NSIB to NiMet to head Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, reflecting a realignment of strategic messaging and consumer engagement functions across the safety and meteorological agencies.
Financial oversight structures were also reconfigured. Muonemeh Ndubusi Lotenna has been redeployed from NAMA to NSIB as Director of Finance and Accounts, while Dr. Mrs. Okundaye Oke Itohan Folake assumes a corresponding role at NAMA. The Ministry says these adjustments aim to ensure robust financial management and accountability across aviation institutions.
At the NCAA, the directive prompted an immediate administrative change. Horatius Egua, the outgoing Director of Special Duties, was relieved of his position and instructed to hand over all official responsibilities and assets to the Director-General. Mrs. Augustina Erah, Ph.D., has been appointed to head the directorate, reinforcing administrative continuity and operational stability at the regulatory authority.
The Ministry has emphasized that all affected officers are required to complete handover processes promptly to prevent disruptions and ensure full accountability.
Officials describe the exercise as part of ongoing routine administrative reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, improving service delivery, and fostering collaboration across Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem. Analysts note that the realignment reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing sector operations and ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation agencies meet global safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
As the aviation sector continues to expand, the redeployment is expected to enhance efficiency, foster cross-agency knowledge sharing, and improve responsiveness across all levels of service delivery.
