In a landmark move for Nigeria’s commercial sector, the Ndị IgboAmaka Progressive Markets Association, one of Lagos State’s most influential traders’ organizations, has officially adopted United Nigeria Airlines as its airline partner. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), promises to transform the travel experience for traders, their families, customers, and business associates.
Signed in Lagos by the Association’s President, Chinedu Ukatu, and Mazi Osita Okonkwo, Managing Director of United Nigeria Airlines, the agreement delivers a suite of exclusive benefits, including discounted fares, lounge access, priority boarding, and other tailored services.
As part of the launch, United Nigeria Airlines announced a special introductory offer: 50 tickets at a rebated fare of ₦80,000 for association members across its domestic network. This move highlights the airline’s focus on making travel more accessible, efficient, and rewarding for the country’s vibrant trading community.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to traders nationwide,” said Okonkwo. “Our goal is to ensure that travel is seamless, safe, and supportive of business growth. By connecting traders to major commercial hubs, we help strengthen Nigeria’s economy from the ground up.”
Reflecting on the partnership, Ukatu described it as a strategic milestone. He cited United Nigeria Airlines’ exceptional safety record, high-quality service, and the ‘Flying to Unite’ philosophy as decisive factors in choosing the carrier. He also noted the enduring support of the airline’s Grand Patron, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, whose long-standing relationship with the association has helped pave the way for this collaboration.
“This initiative is more than just travel convenience,” Ukatu said. “It is about enhancing business efficiency, connecting traders nationwide, and fostering a unified commercial ecosystem. With over 10 million traders in Lagos and beyond, this partnership has the potential to reshape how Nigeria’s trading community travels for business and leisure.”
