The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation has taken a strategic step toward enhancing its institutional profile and human capital development following a high-level engagement with Henryj Valeens, a public relations, advertising, and consulting firm.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, saw the College’s Provost, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu, alongside members of the management team, receive a delegation led by the firm’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo.
The visit, described as both symbolic and strategic, underscored growing collaboration between academia and the private sector in strengthening institutional communication frameworks and workforce readiness in Nigeria’s education sector.
As part of the engagement, the Henryj Valeens delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour of the College’s facilities, gaining insight into its academic, technical, and entrepreneurial capabilities. Key areas visited included the College farms, Entrepreneurship Centre, Engineering Workshop—where students and staff fabricate a range of machines—the bakery and hairdressing units, as well as the institution’s major and mini halls. The team also inspected the organic farm, a critical component of the College’s sustainable agriculture initiative.
The visitors expressed strong admiration for the scale of infrastructure and the institution’s consistent growth trajectory. According to the delegation, the College—established in 1921—has evolved into a robust academic and technical hub with the capacity and potential to be upgraded to a university.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ndiulo commended the leadership of the College for sustaining development across decades, noting that its achievements reflect resilience and forward-thinking management. He disclosed that Henryj Valeens is prepared to partner with the institution, particularly in strengthening its public relations architecture and enhancing the capacity of its communications personnel.
He emphasized that in today’s competitive knowledge economy, institutions must not only perform but also effectively communicate their value to stakeholders, investors, and the global academic community.
“The Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, has a strong story to tell. With the right public relations strategy and capacity development, the institution can significantly amplify its visibility and attract broader partnerships,” he noted.
The meeting was attended by key academic leaders, including the Dean of the School of Agriculture, Dr. Mrs. Modupe Sodamola, and the Dean of the School of Engineering Technology, Engr. Dr. A. Atere. Also present was the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Oyekemi Wilson, alongside representatives of Henryj Valeens, Messrs Emeke Egbune and Adebola Adebayo.
In a forward-looking move, the delegation signaled plans for a follow-up visit aimed at identifying concrete areas of collaboration and developing a structured partnership framework that will deliver measurable outcomes.
In his response, Professor Atungwu expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the prospect of collaboration. He highlighted the importance of leveraging private-sector expertise to reposition legacy institutions for modern challenges, particularly in areas of branding, stakeholder engagement, and capacity development.
The Provost also referenced his longstanding professional relationship with Dr. Ndiulo, spanning over three decades, describing it as a strong foundation for building trust and advancing mutually beneficial initiatives.
Industry observers note that such collaborations are increasingly critical as Nigerian tertiary institutions seek innovative ways to remain competitive, attract funding, and align with global best practices in education delivery and institutional management.
The engagement between FCA Ibadan and Henryj Valeens is therefore seen as a strategic convergence of academic legacy and private-sector innovation—one that could redefine how agricultural institutions position themselves in a rapidly evolving knowledge-driven economy.
