The Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to institutional excellence, staff motivation, and improved service delivery with the presentation of the Q1 2026 MD’s Quarterly Award of Excellence and Productivity to outstanding members of staff across the Authority.
The prestigious recognition ceremony, held on Monday, May 25, 2026, highlighted the growing culture of professionalism and accountability being championed within the nation’s aviation industry under the leadership of the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
Represented at the event by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, the FAAN Managing Director stated that the award initiative was established to recognise and celebrate employees who have consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, efficiency, discipline, professionalism, and commitment in the discharge of their duties.
According to Management, the Quarterly Award of Excellence and Productivity is more than a ceremonial recognition programme. It is part of a broader institutional strategy aimed at encouraging innovation, boosting workforce morale, promoting healthy competition among employees, and strengthening operational standards across airports managed by the Authority.
Observers within the aviation sector say the initiative reflects the increasing emphasis being placed on human capital development as a major driver of sustainable growth and service improvement within Nigeria’s airport system.
Over the years, FAAN has remained at the centre of Nigeria’s aviation development, overseeing airport operations, passenger facilitation, infrastructure management, safety coordination, and customer service delivery across major airports nationwide. Industry stakeholders believe that recognising dedicated personnel is essential to sustaining operational efficiency in such a demanding environment.
The award presentation also served as a moment of reflection on the often demanding responsibilities carried out daily by airport workers and aviation personnel, many of whom operate behind the scenes to ensure smooth passenger movement, safety compliance, security coordination, and uninterrupted airport operations.
Management noted that rewarding excellence sends a strong message that hard work and dedication remain valued within the organisation. The Authority further encouraged staff members to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and service excellence in line with FAAN’s transformation agenda.
