The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Emomotimi Agama, has called on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, unity, compassion, and collective responsibility as Muslim faithful across the country celebrate Eid al-Adha 1447 AH.
In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Agama extended warm felicitations to Muslims nationwide, while praying for peace, prosperity, and sustainable progress for Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, management, and staff of the Commission, the SEC boss described Eid al-Adha as a deeply significant spiritual occasion that offers powerful lessons on faith, obedience, discipline, and devotion to humanity.
According to him, the celebration, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Almighty Allah’s command, remains a timeless symbol of unwavering faith and total submission to divine purpose.
Agama noted that the essence of the festival goes beyond religious observance, stressing that the values of sacrifice and selflessness are critical to national development and social harmony.
“The lesson of Ibrahim’s sacrifice speaks not only to Muslims, but to the heart of every person of genuine faith. It reminds us that true character is measured not merely by what we possess, but by what we are willing to give up in pursuit of a higher and nobler cause,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to use the festive season as an opportunity to strengthen family ties, support the vulnerable, and promote peaceful coexistence within communities.
The SEC Director-General emphasized that kindness, charity, and solidarity remain essential pillars for building a fair, inclusive, and united society, particularly at a time when the nation continues to face economic and social challenges.
“As families gather in celebration, share the blessings of Qurbani, and extend generosity to the less privileged, we are collectively reminded of the virtues of compassion, sacrifice, and communal support that form the foundation of a just and cohesive society,” Agama added.
Drawing a connection between the spiritual message of Eid and national economic aspirations, Agama said the task of building Nigeria’s capital market equally requires patience, trust, discipline, and collective sacrifice from stakeholders.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to deepening investor confidence and strengthening the integrity of Nigeria’s financial markets through transparency, inclusiveness, and effective regulation.
“In this sacred season of sacrifice, we are reminded that building Nigeria’s capital market is itself an act of shared faith — faith in the enormous potential of our country and in the resilience, creativity, and enterprise of Nigerians,” he said.
The SEC boss further assured investors and market participants that the Commission remains committed to creating a transparent and efficient market environment capable of supporting long-term economic growth and wealth creation.
Agama also offered prayers for Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise in the holy city of Makkah, praying for safe journeys and divine acceptance of their worship.
“To our Muslim brothers and sisters returning from or completing the blessed pilgrimage of Hajj, may Almighty Allah accept your sacrifices and prayers, grant you Hajj Mabrur, and bring you safely back home,” he prayed.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Eid celebration and a prosperous future, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to national unity and development.
“Eid al-Adha Mubarak. May Allah’s mercy, peace, and abundant blessings continue to rest upon our families and our beloved nation, Nigeria,” Agama stated.
