United Nigeria Airlines Suspends Lagos Flights Amid MMIA Fire

 United Nigeria Airlines has temporarily suspended flights to and from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following a fire outbreak at the facility. The airline confirmed that all operations at the Lagos airfield have been halted to allow for firefighting and safety assessments.
Speaking to the press, Chibuike Uloka, Public Relations Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, assured passengers that safety remains the airline’s highest priority. “We are working closely with airport authorities to ensure the fire is contained and safety procedures are thoroughly followed. Passenger and crew safety is non-negotiable, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption to travel plans,” Uloka said.
As a result of the incident:
Flights UN0574 and UN0577 (Lagos–Sokoto–Lagos) have been canceled.
Flights UN0510/38 and UN513/41 (Lagos–Owerri–Lagos) have been rescheduled to 07:00 hours on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, due to sunset limitations at the destination airports.
