The appointment underscores the Bank’s continued commitment to strong corporate governance, leadership stability, and strategic brand positioning at a critical stage in its ongoing transformation and growth agenda.

In his current capacity, he is responsible for shaping and executing the Group’s integrated marketing and corporate communications strategy across its operations. This includes overseeing brand and reputation management, executive positioning, corporate responsibility and sustainability communications, as well as strategic messaging aligned with the Bank’s long-term business objectives.
Before his elevation, he served in key leadership positions within the department, including Head of Brand Strategy and Special Projects, Head of Digital Marketing, and Head of Brand and Stakeholder Management—roles in which he contributed significantly to strengthening the Bank’s brand visibility and engagement with diverse stakeholders.
Before joining FirstBank, Ijabiyi built an extensive career across reputable organisations including the British Council, MultiChoice, MTN Group, and Etisalat Nigeria. Across these organisations, he played key roles in brand development, corporate communications strategy, and digital transformation initiatives.
He is widely recognised for his ability to translate corporate strategy into impactful communication campaigns, having led major brand initiatives including milestone anniversary campaigns and brand refresh programmes that enhanced brand equity and operational efficiency.
Academically, Ijabiyi holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the former Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti. He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), among other professional bodies.
His confirmation is expected to further strengthen FirstBank’s marketing and communications architecture as the institution continues to deepen its market leadership and digital transformation drive across Africa.
