The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially taken to its verified Instagram handle @faan_official to announce a major digital transformation initiative set to redefine airport ground transportation in Nigeria.

In a detailed post shared with visuals and project highlights, FAAN introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS)—a smart mobility platform designed to modernise car hire operations, improve passenger experience, and enhance traffic coordination at airports across the country.

The initiative, according to the report which will first go live at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, is scheduled for official launch on 1 July 2026, marking what FAAN describes as the beginning of a “new era of airport pick-up management.”

According to the agency’s Instagram announcement, ACHRAMS will be powered through a dedicated FAAN Car Hire App, enabling passengers to scan, request, and access verified car hire services directly from designated airport ranks. The system is expected to reduce congestion, eliminate informal pick-up practices, and introduce greater transparency into airport mobility services.

FAAN emphasized that the platform is part of its broader digital transformation agenda aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening security frameworks, and delivering a more seamless travel experience for both domestic and international passengers.

The announcement has generated attention across aviation and transport circles, with industry watchers describing the initiative as a long-awaited structural reform in airport ground logistics. For years, passengers and stakeholders have raised concerns over disorganized car hire processes, traffic bottlenecks, and inconsistent service standards at major Nigerian airports.

With ACHRAMS, FAAN is positioning itself in line with global airport management practices where digital ride-hailing and structured car hire systems have become standard in improving efficiency and passenger satisfaction.

As anticipation builds toward the July 1, 2026 rollout, the Instagram announcement signals not just a product launch, but a strategic shift in how Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem manages last-mile passenger movement.
