Media veterans, corporate executives and communications professionals across West Africa have congratulated Dr. Ejike Ndiulo on his appointment as a faculty member at Covenant University, describing the development as a significant milestone for both academia and Nigeria’s corporate communications industry.
The stakeholders noted that Dr. Ndiulo’s transition from the corporate boardroom to the classroom represents an opportunity to bridge academic theory with practical industry experience, while helping to prepare future business leaders with contemporary marketing and strategic communication skills.
Dr. Ndiulo, a seasoned marketing and communications professional with more than two decades of executive experience, recently completed a PhD in Strategic Marketing Management at Babcock University before taking up his academic appointment.
Industry colleagues described the move as a natural progression for a professional who has consistently championed excellence in corporate communications and strategic marketing.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ndiulo has advocated for greater recognition of communication professionals as strategic partners in corporate governance, maintaining that public relations should be integrated into executive decision-making rather than being treated solely as a crisis management function.
Until his appointment, he served as Chief Thinker at Henryjvaleens Limited, a public relations, marketing, communications and corporate consulting firm, where he advised organisations on brand positioning, corporate reputation management, market expansion strategies and business growth initiatives.
Before joining Henryjvaleens Limited, Dr. Ndiulo was Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace Limited, where he led several brand communication initiatives aimed at strengthening the airline’s corporate image and stakeholder confidence.
He also previously headed Corporate Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, overseeing a major marketing communications portfolio during his decade-long service with the financial institution.
Commenting on his appointment, one of his professional associates described Dr. Ndiulo as a long-standing advocate for strategic communications.
“Ejike has consistently demonstrated that communications should be central to corporate strategy. Throughout his career, he has shown that organisations perform better when communication professionals are involved in decision-making from the outset rather than after decisions have been taken.”
Dr. Ndiulo’s professional journey also includes international business development and media experience. He previously served as a Business Development Representative with the BBC World Service and as Special Projects Manager for the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DIHK).
Before moving into corporate communications, he built a distinguished journalism career as Senior Financial Correspondent with THISDAY Newspapers, earning recognition for his reporting on Nigeria’s financial and insurance sectors.
His achievements include winning the Insurance Reporter of the Year award and finishing as runner-up for Financial Reporter of the Year at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards.
Dr. Ndiulo is also an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
Media professionals and corporate leaders expressed confidence that his combination of academic scholarship and extensive executive experience would enrich teaching and research at Covenant University while equipping students with practical knowledge in strategic marketing, corporate communication and reputation management.
A senior media executive who has worked closely with Dr. Ndiulo said the university was gaining an accomplished industry practitioner whose experience would inspire future professionals.
According to the executive, Dr. Ndiulo’s blend of academic credentials and boardroom expertise places him in a unique position to mentor students and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of marketing and communications education in Nigeria.
