LAWAN to Hold Day of Tribute for Late Journalist Sylvester Enoghase

The Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN), a professional body of media practitioners and journalists covering labour, employment, trade unions, and workplace issues, has announced plans to hold a Day of Tribute in honour of its late colleague, Comrade Sylvester Enoghase.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the association, the memorial programme will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The event is being organised to celebrate the life, career, and enduring contributions of the late journalist, whose commitment to labour and workplace reporting earned him the respect of colleagues, labour leaders, and stakeholders across Nigeria.
LAWAN said the tribute will provide an opportunity for family members, friends, fellow journalists, labour unions, employers’ organisations, government officials, and other stakeholders to honour the memory of Comrade Enoghase and reflect on his contributions to journalism and the labour movement.
The association has invited members, associates, and the general public to attend the event and pay their last respects.
In addition, LAWAN appealed to colleagues, friends, and well-wishers to submit written tributes, which will be published as part of activities commemorating the late journalist’s life and legacy.
The association also expressed appreciation to members and supporters for the solidarity and condolences extended to the family and the journalism community following Enoghase’s passing.
The statement, signed by the Chairman of the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN), called on members to honour the late journalist by participating in the programme and celebrating a life dedicated to professional excellence, integrity, and impactful reporting on labour and employment issues.
