The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), in collaboration with PwC Nigeria, has reinforced professional capacity in Nigeria’s tax and accounting sector through a high-level in-house training programme focused on tax consulting, tax planning and regulatory compliance.
The training featured the Managing Partner of Peter Adebayo & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Mr. Peter Adebayo, FCA, who served as ICAN’s Resource Person and Lead Facilitator, delivering a paper on “Tax Consulting Practice, Planning and Regulatory Compliance in Nigeria.”
The programme attracted a large number of chartered accountants from various departments, professional levels and management hierarchies within PwC, reflecting the growing importance of tax advisory services and regulatory compliance in Nigeria’s evolving business environment.
During the interactive session, participants were taken through practical strategies for delivering effective tax consulting services, navigating Nigeria’s changing tax laws, enhancing compliance with statutory requirements, and adopting ethical professional standards in client advisory services.
Speaking after the event, Adebayo described the opportunity to represent ICAN at such a prestigious programme as a great honour and privilege.
“It was indeed a great privilege for me to be presented by our noble and great Institute, ICAN, to speak on behalf of the Institute at such a high-profile training programme. I sincerely appreciate ICAN for the confidence reposed in me and also thank PwC for providing this excellent platform for professional knowledge sharing,” he said.
Industry observers noted that the training comes at a critical time when Nigeria’s tax landscape is witnessing significant reforms, making continuous professional education essential for accountants and tax practitioners.
They added that programmes of this nature help professionals remain abreast of emerging tax policies, strengthen regulatory compliance, and improve the quality of advisory services provided to businesses operating in Nigeria.
The collaboration between ICAN and PwC further demonstrates the commitment of both organisations to promoting professional excellence, lifelong learning, and the development of world-class accounting and taxation expertise capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and improving corporate governance.
The event concluded with participants commending ICAN and PwC for organising a timely and impactful training programme that provided practical insights into modern tax consulting practice and reinforced the strategic role of chartered accountants in advancing tax compliance and sustainable business development in Nigeria.
