Nigeria’s newest indigenous carrier, Binani Air, has officially commenced commercial operations to Lagos, with its inaugural flight landing successfully at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation industry.
The maiden flight, which departed Abuja on Monday amid excitement from passengers, aviation stakeholders and airline officials, touched down smoothly in Lagos, drawing commendation from travellers who praised the airline’s punctuality, professionalism and onboard service delivery.
The successful launch of the Lagos route is being viewed as a major boost to Nigeria’s domestic aviation market, especially at a time when the industry continues to witness increased competition, passenger demand and renewed investments in indigenous air transport operations.
Speaking shortly before the inaugural departure, the Group President of Binani Air, Aminatu Danjuma Goje, described the commencement of Lagos operations as a strategic step towards building a dependable, customer-focused Nigerian airline capable of meeting the growing mobility needs of businesses and travellers across the country.
According to her, the successful launch reflects the airline’s commitment to supporting economic activities, improving connectivity and strengthening national integration through efficient and reliable air transportation services.
“Today’s flight to Lagos represents more than an expansion of routes; it reflects our commitment to connecting people, businesses and opportunities across Nigeria,” she stated.
“We are building an airline founded on safety, discipline, professionalism and service excellence. Our goal is to continually earn the trust of Nigerians through consistency and reliability,” Goje added.
Also speaking, the Chairperson of the airline, Aishatu Dahiru Binani, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s economic growth agenda through investments in transportation infrastructure and aviation development.
She noted that the airline was positioned to contribute meaningfully to job creation, business expansion and improved connectivity between major commercial centres across Nigeria.
Industry observers say the entry of Binani Air into the Lagos route could further stimulate competition within the domestic market, potentially improving service quality and operational efficiency among local carriers.
Passengers onboard the inaugural flight expressed satisfaction with the airline’s service delivery, describing the experience as smooth and professionally managed from check-in to arrival.
The Lagos operation is expected to serve as one of the airline’s strategic hubs as it gradually expands its route network across key Nigerian cities in the coming months.
